Headwater Wooden Boat Shop is owned and operated by Karin and Dick Persson. Our interest in boats and woodworking began on the south coast of Sweden, where we grew up. A fascination with history and the traditional ways of North American natives, led to research into early canoe designs and their development. Along the way Headwater Wooden Boat Shop was launched, by which time we had settled in Canada. We build cedar strip epoxy and wood canvas canoes, kayaks and small boats of classic designs. We also offer repairs, restorations and a line of canoe accessories & unique gifts. Over the years we have gained a reputation as builders of watercraft of outstanding beauty, design and craftsmanship.

You will find us in the little town of Buckhorn 30 min north of Peterborough, Ontario, Canada. Feel free to stop in for a visit at our shop. We are open from 9 am until 5 pm most weekdays and by appointment on weekends. Please call ahead to make sure we will be available.
